Steam Greenlight

October 11, 2012 - 00:50am

Hi,

I've noticed this great game having empty servers & would like to inform a developer of the Steam Greenlight.

"What is Steam Greenlight? Steam Greenlight is a new system that enlists the community's help in picking some of the next games to be released on Steam. Developers post information, screenshots, and videos for their game and seek a critical mass of community support in order to get selected for distribution. Steam Greenlight also helps developers get feedback from potential customers and start creating an active community around their game as early in the development process as they like."

Steam only wants evil non-free games that make money, not that kind of game.

I have no problem with non-free games. I program for a living, too -- and programmers need to eat (so do artists). However, Q2W will never be non-Free. That, and our release cycle is too fluid for a platform like Steam to really work well for us. We'll continue to provide installers and an update tool for all major platforms for as long as this game is viable.

I have to agree steam is not a good platform for this to be released on. Its a free game not valve related and lets be honest steam just adds an extra process that your computer has to run which eats memory and performance.

You can build this game up on greenlight as a beta for a pay to play, and at the last moment say "hey guys, it's free"! Would generate amazing publicity!
