Hi Everyone=D
How goes it?!?! This thread is dedicated towards setting up matches for this wonderful game, q2w. It seems that there is quite a following for the development of this game, but no one actually playing it!!!
I've pondered the reasons why, and I've concluded that the reasons are
1) We all live in different time zones, and since this game is still nascent and independent(as opposed to games that have big buck advertising to draw massive crowds), people find it hard to get on the servers at the same time.
Hay
just wanted to say hello :)
I tested now quake2world and it's really cool.
The movement is well, the textures are awesome and the maps have a quite good gameplay.
I especially like what you've done graphically, deluxemapping looks really awesome.
My favourite looking maps are fractures and torn.
I guess this game will bring it to something if you plan to release more maps, a decent menu and funny gamemodes. :)
Maybe I will make a map for this game in the far future.
q2 still remains my favorite FPS of all time. Why? q2 movement. It was something relatively easy to learn but is hard to master. The way you gain speed by strafe/circle jumping was unintended. But it added a really fun element to the game. It kind of feels like your doing the running yourself when you get the hang of it. The double jumps also fall into this category.
q2w actually takes these "bugs" to a new level, which is one of the reasons it also is more fun than your average FPS.
You posted something in the topic of my thread on gamedev.net. So I decided to come over and check it out. Small world huh, got two indie developers in MA.
Project looks like it is going pretty good! I wish you luck, and I will be staying here on the forums through-out the project from now on!
I don't even know how I found this place, or why I was looking for something like this. But I love what you guys are attempting to do, I still activly play Rocket Arena 2, and genuinly believe Quake 2 was the best of the series.
Please keep up the good work, and I will definitly be keeping an eye on this far in to the future.
